what is a skimmer lid?
A skimmer lid covers the skimmer opening in a pool, keeping out debris and larger objects. It helps control the water flow and prevents spills. The lid also helps with safety by covering the sharp edges of the skimmer and preventing accidents.
Traditional skimmer lids are round, plastic covers (as seen on the right). Over time they become faded and unsightly. The modern solution is to install a tile insert skimmer lid, which seamlessly blends into your paving.

Tile insert skimmer kits allow the installer to set different materials into the lid to achieve a flush and perfect match to the surroundings, including any patterns or grout lines to be incorporated into the lid during installation. This is achieved by positioning the safety keyhole on the edge of the lid which can be cut by your tradesman.
Lifestile Pavers also stock access covers with tile insert to compliment your skimmer selection. As well as non-conductive skimmer and inspection outlet options.
Lifestile Pavers are the largest stockists of skimmer lids and access covers in the Illawarra.

what are conductive and non-conductive skimmer kits?
Skimmers and access covers must be non-conductive if they are within 1.25m of the waters edge. One safety procedure is earthing, which protects against varying levels of electrical potential that may exist in the pool environment by running an earth wire underground to a grounding point. Alternatively, non-conductive skimmer kits are manufactured with a clear powdercoat that removes the earthing requirement. Speak to the pool builder / installer to determine the correct skimmer for your pool.

access covers
Lifestile pavers offers multiple access covers to suit your requirements. The most common access point around a pool is a water level inspection for fibreglass pools. Other uses may include concealing pumps and filtration devices. The most popular size of access cover is the 120x120mm, which is available in both non-conductive and stainless finishes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Pool owners may look at professional acid washing if their pool is suffering from algae buildup and water discolouration. Similarly, home owners may look to clean their outdoor pavers or tiles with a chemical wash. If embarking on either option, please be aware that the lid should not come into contact with any acid or chemical washing solutions.
